CREAMY COLE SLAW

One of my favorite recipes which also goes along with a family tradition is the creamy cole slaw. The tradition part of it is we use an old fashion meat grinder to grind the cabbage & a few carots and each child helps with turning the handle. The recipe is quite simple after cabbage is ground add enough mayonaise to cover, we use half & half just enough to make it creamy and sugar to taste.

I give thanks for family and for the many good friends I have made through the internet and especially for those here at Granny and Friends. May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving and let us all be thankful that we are not a turkey.

The Thanksgiving I will never forget is seven years ago my whole family and all of their families went to our cabin and everyone pitched in and when we sat down my nine year old grand daughter said lets everyone say what we are thankful for and she started and just basically said that she was thankful we were all there>

Everything done on Thanksgiving for dinner is all done from scratch. No opening cans or boxes. All fresh and I mean fresh. Pumpkin pie is from pumpkins I bought when I went apple picking. So are the apple pies. Of course the turkey is store bought.

Generally our Thanksgiving dinner is traditional except because my oven is off 15 degrees, I let the grocery store cook my bird. This year we won't be home so I don't know what we will be doing.
